Pepper's first annual vaccination

Time passes so fast,
today Pepper went for his first annual vaccination

The taxi driver who drove us to the vet
was quite unhappy with
the presence of an animal carrier in his cab

Moreover,
Pepper was very scared of going out
and howled once in a while

Halfway during the journey,
the smell of a fart wafted through the cab

Ougwee asked Pepper:
"Pepper did you fart?"

So poor Pepper helped cover up
the farting crime of the taxi driver

Pepper was still so scared,
I had to let him hide in my cardigan
while we were waiting for the vet

I forgot to mention that
Miaomiao came along as usual,
to comfort Pepper.

So at the same time,
Miaomiao was hiding in Emily's Puma bag

While in the vet's room,
Miaomiao watched from the bag
as poor Pepper had his injection

Miaomiao: "Lucky not my turn.."

But she still hid her head well inside the bag,
in case the vet saw her and
decided to give her an injection too

The vet is moving away! :(
We would love to follow over,
but Toa Payoh vet clinic is quite far for us
So we shall see how next February,
when it's time for Miaomiao's and Momo's vaccinations

Feeding times for Momo

Momo is currently participating in
"The Mama's Food Ration Exercise"

Meaning to say that he has feeding time

He still keeps screaming (AH! AH!)
even though he just ate about 20 minutes ago

Then he can't seem to remember if he had eaten already
When I woke up this morning,
he readied himself at his food bowl,
expecting me to feed him.

But Emily fed him earlier already!

And when Miaomiao and Pepper eat,
he trots into the kitchen,
thinking that it must be feeding time for him too

Sometimes when it's our mealtime
he also thinks it's time for him to eat
(and sit at his food bowl of course)

He has also very dutifully cleaned up
Pepper's and Miaomiao's dish

When I see Miaomiao's (a.k.a the Dribble Eater)
food dish so clean,
I wonder whether Momo had helped her clean off the plate

Pepper's bad habit

I look at Pepper digging in the litter tray,
and now it's my turn to faint

He dig and dig and dig til
there is no litter in that spot,
and he continues to dig and dig
and dig and dig and dig and dig

As if he wanted to dig a hole
in the base of the litter tray

Then once in a while
he makes a digging action
with his paw in the air

We wonder what he was trying to dig

Bad habits always carries through from young

He keeps peeing on empty ground
(without the litter to absorb the urine)
and you see why the urine always flows to his feet
and we have to take him to the sink to wash his feet

Pepper locked out

Two nights ago
Pepper took the chance to run out
on to the corridor
when someone came home
and the front door was opened

I went out to carry him back into the house,
then Miaomiao ran out to the corridor

Then I carried Miaomiao in,
and closed the door after me

A while later,
there was the sound of a cat
howling outside our house

Emily: "What's that sound?"
Me: "Must be Ougwee playing Youtube videos"

The cat outside must feel like fainting
for having such a dumb mum

I went to look at what Ougwee was doing
Turns out that she wasn't at Youtube

Then next I thought
"Must be Fat Cat from downstairs
up to disturb again"

At this time the cat outside our house
might have felt like knocking his head
against the wall

I climbed up on the stool
to look out at the corridor
through the window

PEPPER!!!

I quickly went to open the door,
and Pepper quickly sprinted into the house

He got so frightened
when he realised he was locked out of the house

So poor thing! :(
I didn't see him run out of the house again,
and I thought he was already safely in the house

For now Pepper is not so interested in going out I guess...

Miaomiao and her weirdness II

At about 8pm last night,
Miaomiao and Pepper were sleeping on the bed,
taking their night-nap

Miaomiao always slept with her head
propped up on the pillow,
the very proper way to sleep.

Pepper was sleeping somewhere
near the foot of the bed,
lying on his side

Halfway through her sleep
Miaomiao woke up,
and there she saw Pepper sleeping on the bed

She had this expression like
"Why is Pepper sleeping on my bed?",
then raised her right paw up,
as if preparing to tap him awake

Pepper was sleeping peacefully,
oblivious to the offended Miaomiao beside him

The three of us watched amusedly,
to see what Miaomiao would do

Anyway she did nothing in the end,
maybe she realised that
the bed doesn't really belong to her

Miaomiao and her weirdness I

Last night while I was sleeping
(about 3 to 4am),
I felt something ticklish on my face,
then on my arms.

I opened my eyes to see
Miaomiao sniffing me all over,
making her whiskers tickle me

Funny habit she has,
sniffing people in the middle of the night like that

** Miaomiao

It's comforting to have Miaomiao
come beside me when I lie in bed.

Until I figured out why she came.

Every time (on weekends),
when I set my alarm at a certain timing,
and I decide to lie in a little longer,
Miaomiao would jump up onto my bed,
and lie down.

After a while I realised it was because
she knew I would be waking up soon,
so she chose that time to start sleeping on my bed

FYI, she is quite 孤癖(anti-social),
she doesn't like that much contact at times

Momo now and then

It's funny looking through
past photos of Momo

He used to look so very innocent,
and now he just looks... very kaypoh.

He even literally pokes his nose
into everything,
like closets etc. etc.

Momo's news

Anyway as an update,
the fur on Momo's paw
(from the nail polish incident)
has almost grown back!! :)

I don't have to be guilty about
creating a bald spot on his paw

So I don't have to hold myself back
from scolding him when he disturbs me in my sleep

** Momo is currently 5.5kg,
10% heavier than the last time he took his weight!

Busy Peanut

I realise Peanut the hamster
is always very busy during a certain timing,
that is, after the cage has just been cleaned

In the past his sleeping nest-house on Level 2
and his Level 1 floor were filled with
either sawdust or Carefresh (a white paper pulp bedding)

Then after that it was realised that
he doesn't really use the bedding,
so only his Level 2 house were filled with Carefresh

I was observing him one night
when I saw him busily chewing up the newspaper on Level 1,
then running up the tunnel to Level 2 house
to line his nest with shredded newspaper

He had beforehand pushed out the Carefresh from his house.

After depositing the newspaper shreds from his mouth
he ran down the tunnel again,
to fill his mouth with yet more newspaper

Maybe it's a way for him to kill time,
so he always makes himself busy for nothing ;)

Anyway I do admit that I am not the caretaker of Peanut,
to avoid giving any wrong impressions

When nature calls

The family was having dinner in the living room,
while watching television,
when Momo-chan, feeling the call of nature,
decided to use the litter tray

The moment Popo saw him
squatting over the litter,
with one foot supported on the side of the tray,
she suddenly decided to go to the kitchen

A few seconds later
everyone else also went to the kitchen,
to avoid the overwhelming smell

Momo put on his very serious expression
and his poo came dropping out onto the tray,
with lots of "plop, plop, plop" sounds

Even if the smell didn't kill our appetite
the sound would.

Of course one of us would have to pause eating
to clear up the poo IMMEDIATELY

Certain situations call for immediate actions;
Momo pooing is one of them,
unless you want the whole house to smell like poo

Momo's sleep-in-the-middle-of-nowhere-and-block-people's-way syndrome

Not-so-secretive pounce

It's amusing to see that how sometimes,
the cats think that they are secretly pouncing on us,
but actually they are not being very secretive

We hide, they seek
From behind the shoe cabinet we peek out,
and there they are,
their butts doing a little shake
while their feet move slightly backwards
to get ready to pounce

So we always get about 2-second warning
before they actually pounce :)

Momo and nail polish

Applying nail polish

Then Momo looks on,

putting his paw with extended claws out

"He looks like he want to apply nail polish!"

Tried to take a photo of the feminine side of Momo

Then,

his paw moved out too far,

and the nail polish brush

came into contact with his paw

OOPPS!!

Nail polish stain on his paw

Couldn't wash off it off at all,

so we had to resort to cutting off

the stained part of the fur on his paw

So there,
his rescued paw,
but with a bald spot from cutting off the fur :(

Actually not much of a suspect

since she don't like toilet paper so much

So that's partly why we always need to replenish

the toilet paper supply very quickly

Momo the food snatcher

It is very amusing to see
Miaomiao's and Pepper's reaction
when Momo just come in
between the cat and his/her dish,
and just start (rather unceromoniously)
eating up their food

They look quite surprised,
like "why this cat just come and start eating my food?"

Then they start to look helpless
"What do I do now?"

These all happen while
Momo is still munching on their food

Then they start to look around,
find a human for help,
then look on at us in bewilderment,
"Mama, can you help me?"

Then the rescuer would quickly
get Momo back to where he should be.

His own yellow dish.
Sometimes without food though,
cos his food now is portioned out

So sometimes Momo will look at his food,
then look at us,
then look back at his food,
and look eagerly at us,
as if to prove
"Mama, I eat clean clean already,
you can give me more!"

Miaomiao's nail cutting

Cut nails for Miaomiao two nights ago,
with the help of Ougwee carrying her

Miaomiao meows very helplessly,
that one can't help but get
the wrong impression of what is happening

If you were to stand in front of Ougwee,
you would see that she is making noise
because she hates people touching her paws,
restricting her movement,
and of course cutting her nails

If you were to stand behind Ougwee
(and not able to see Miaomiao),
she just gives the impression
that she is in the process of being slaughtered

The easier way is to do it while she's sleeping,
but it's not my fault that
she wakes up easily and hides her paws
underneath her body.

Momo??

Somehow Momo alway manages
to include a question mark in his meows

His meows sound like:
"Eow? Ah? AHH!!!"

And great,
now he also knows how to
shut down my laptop.. :(
