Momo's 1!

It's Momo's birthday tomorrow!
he was born.

2 January 2010 was the first day
we saw him.
He was just a tiny little tot,
yet to open his eyes.
Him, his sister Mimi and his mother Mini
were living in a shoe box provided by someone

The one facing the camera is Momo! :)

Momo looking out of his box home
which someone made for them.

A photo of him and Mimi at their then-home,
the MAILBOX!
Momo feels that human beings are good because
people will come and feed his family!

Anyway,
human beings are not that good because
someone called the Town Council
to remove the family of three,
which was as good as sending them to their death

I guess that was how Momo ended up in our family
because we put them up for a while,
and to put a long story short,
Ougwee fell in love with him

How to make your human being fall in love with you

But of course
Pepper wasn't too happy about it,
because all the while
he was the baby of the family
and suddenly there was a cat younger than him

Pepper sharing food with Momo
(Perhaps before realising that he was about to be replaced
as the baby of the family)

There has been quite a few humps this year
because we had to take them to the vet
for several illnesses,
to the extent that the receptionist
don't even ask for our names when they see us

Finally for now we kind of striked a balance
For one thing Pepper don't mind sleeping
on the same bed as Momo anymore!

And secondly
Momo has morphed from a troublemaker kitten
to a sweet little cat,
who from time to time acts as the ambassador of our home

Whenever visitors come,
he makes it a point to come out to greet them,
and basically makes sure that they see him,
no matter where they are.

But one thing I found quite funny that
when he just came,
he just had that super-innocent look
(refer to photo above)
Why is it that as he grows,
he starts to have this very kaypoh face?

Kaypoh-cum-gonggong face

Of course there were many other changes.
Long long ago Momo was a 800g kitten
(evidence below)
Now he is going to become a 8kg cat

When Momo was a 800g kitten

When Momo was the same size as Kopi

He hasn't got the attention he deserved as a kitten
because we were trying to make Pepper not dislike him,
so we didn't shower that much attention on him

It was quite unfair to him,
but luckily they are able to receive the same amount of attention now!

Despite his weird quirks
(ie: lying down in the middle of nowhere,
screaming at barely-awake human beings)
and his several damages done to our house
(ie: causing the roof of the closet to fall in,
toppling a fan such that it couldn't work anymore),
he is still a very sweet cat :)

We celebrated his birthday just now
with a very cute cake

Chocolate cake with a mouse on it!

He didn't get to eat it,
but it's the thought that counts?

Stop spoiling the cats

From today onwards,
the three cats are all going to be put
on a fixed number of meals per day

That means no more
Miaomiao-sit-in-front-of-her-food-bowl-
and-look-pitiful-then-eat-four-pellets-and-walk-
off habits

No more eat-a-few-pellets-and-decide-
they-want-more-ten-minutes-later

Must be Miaomiao's fault,
waking up Emily at 5am
by calling very pitifully,
getting her out of  bed just to
eat four pellets and then strut off

So it was decided that the cats cannot be spoilt too much

When we feed Pepper we even have to
hold up his plate and "beg" him to eat

Thing is,
at 10 in the morning,
I'm the one available for Miaomiao
to meow pitifully for food,
and I have to ignore her
*heart pain*

Then she goes around biting plastic here and there,
perhaps to show that she wants to eat

At 11am (about 5 hours after her first feeding),
she finally gets to eat,
and true to the theory behind the fixed meals,
she gets quite hungry and doesn't
"eat four pellets and struts off"

Then after that she goes to my bed
and sleep like the pillow belongs to her

Hope this thing will work out

Momo turning 1 soon!

Momo's birthday is coming soon!
Only for him,
we celebrate his date of birth (approx 28 Dec 2009),
because the first time we saw him he was just a few days old,
quite furless and eyes still closed

For Pepper and Miaomiao,
we only celebrate their date of arrival

Momo has grown so much in one year!
The quite funny thing is that,
even though he was never with his mum
since about 1 month old,
he grown to meow like his mum (Ahhh!!~)
and certain behaviour traits of his are so similar to his mum!

Genetics really plays a part in many things..

Double standard

Miaomiao has now taken to snitching
from Momo's bowl whenever
we don't give her new food pellets.

About two days ago,
Momo ate from Miaomiao's bowl.
Miaomiao saw him do that,
and stopped and looked over at Momo

I think she wasn't too happy about that

But then again,
Miaomiao does that to Momo,
so why can't Momo do that?

Talk about double standards....

Pepper and Momo's "feud"

Last night Pepper slept on the same bed as Momo!
For one whole night!

That's good,
because I remember that when
Momo just figured out how to get onto my bed,
Pepper was sooo pissed off at him,
that he threw noisy tantrums,
making threatening sounds at the then tiny Momo

After that whenever Momo got onto my bed,
he would immediately jump off

So yesterday was the first time I saw him
willing to share a bed with Momo
for such a long period of time.

Here's a picture of them sitting in the market trolley,
one of their favourite leisure activity
(the sitting in the trolley part, not the together part)
So cute,
but Pepper jumped out of the trolley
one second after the picture was taken.

Sweet! :)

Poo on the blanket :(

One of the cats suddenly thought it funny
to poo on my bed.

Oh no!

So far we suspect Pepper,
who might be too shy to use the litter tray
in front of the visitor today,
so he decided that my bed was
a more private place for number two

Anyway
it was only a tiny round poo
on my blanket,
but the size of the poo was greatly disproportional
to the amount of stench it was capable of giving out

I had to wash my bedsheet and blanket immediately :(
I guess it's Pepper's way of reminding me
to change my bedsheets regularly

Pepper's Smartness

Pepper has a new game!
It's called the "Find the Scrunchie" Game.

He has this scrunchie fetish since very long ago,
and whenever we hide that scrunchie
anywhere in the bedroom,
he will go searching for it,
sort of in an "own time own target" way.

When after an hour
we thought that he would have
long forgotten about the scrunchie,
he suddenly brings it to us
while we are all watching television
in the living room,
then we all gush compliments
about how smart Pepper is,
making him quite overwhelmed

Then we hide the scrunchie
in another location in the bedroom,
while keeping him in the living room,
and sends him off to find the scrunchie again

So far Pepper has found the scrunchie:
1. On the dressing table
2. In my cupboard cubicle (I placed it right inside the back of the cubicle)
3. Under my pillow
4. On the hard drive of the desktop computer
etc.

He is so smart! :D

Momo on leave

According to Popo,
Momo is now taking leave.

For many months
he has been our alarm clock (Ahhh!!),
making sure that we do not sleep beyond 9am
(sometimes earlier)

But today and yesterday
he hasn't been calling

Ougwee misses his alarm calls.

Of course, cos she isn't the direct victim
of Momo's daily alarm calls..

Random pics

Momo trying to look like an ah beng

Pepper makes a new friend again! Once he hugged the
bear pencil case to sleep..

Miaomiao and Momo taking afternoon naps.
As usual Miaomiao manages to look unglam sleeping

Miaomiao staring at an innocent piece of paper,
trying to wonder what was it...

Wruhh!

Some old video I discovered and Linda insists that I upload it.
Someone (I forgot who) sneaked up on Pepper
and Pepper wruhhed in shock. ^^

Pepper loves Garfield :)

Here's Pepper watching about an hour plus of Garfield. (Video is only a few minutes though)
He love the bits where they focus on Garfield alone,
he shows it by attempting to test whether his paw can go through the television
so that he can touch the fat orange cat.

Before that he was simply standing on his back paws
front paws holding onto the tv console
Or just sitting on the floor, right in front of the console and strains his neck to watch
so I gave him a chair to sit on
which he insisted must be within 15cm from the tv screen.

I remembered in the past how MiaoMiao did not even bother watching for at least 5 minutes.

Practical Miaomiao

Today Ougwee was feeding
boiled chicken (yay!!) to the three cats.

Pepper and Momo came to enjoy their treats

Miaomiao haven't came yet,
so Ougwee called out her name 4 times,
asking her to come join in the treat

I went over and peeked at Miaomiao,
who was on Emily's bed.
She had that very look like she was
deciding whether to go or stay,
perhaps thinking something like
"Is Mama calling me for fun,
or she has something good for me?"

Miaomiao is too practical sometimes...

Forbidden places

The cats like to go to forbidden places lately.
Actually only the male cats.

Pepper loves lying on the ironing table,
looking like a sweetie pie,
but it's so dangerous!
The table could topple,
and worse the iron on it could be hot

Momo is another naughty cat.
Recently he has paid more attention
to where we prepare cat food,
and although the food is not for him,
he still jumps onto
the washing machine top or kitchen sink counter,
and smuggle the food to the living room,
when we are having our dinner in the kitchen

(in this sense he is smarter than Pepper,
because Pepper once smuggled a satay
to where everyone was sitting and watching television,
and tried to eat it. Obviously it was confiscated)

Momo is more and more cunning by the day!
He always has a habit of making loud crashing sounds
when jumping onto higher surfaces
but somehow he managed to jump silently
onto the washing machine top
and steal the food without any of us noticing.
Hmmph.

Launch-pad!

For some reason or other,
the usually obedient Pepper suddenly
decided to go into his crazy kitty mode,
and started running across the double decker beds.

While he was doing so,
he launch-padded across Emily's forehead
(She was sleeping at that time.
Emily, not the forehead)

Emily yelped awake,
shocking Ougwee and I,
who were having breakfast.

She now has a chinese character "two" (二)
on her forehead.

Spot-on treatment for the cats

Got the 3 cats on Revolution anti-mite treatment
a few days back,
and halfway I was worrying
whether Momo would be able to use it
(The Revolution Anti-mite Spot-on treatment
have a few types meant for cats of different weight ranges)

When I saw the weight range printed on the product,
"5.1lb to 15lb",
I thought "Hmm good, cover such a large range Momo sure can use"

After putting the spot on for them,
I went to use my handphone converter function to
convert 15 lb to kg.
It returned 6.8 kg.

We then proceeded to weigh Momo.
7.2kg

Oh. so actually he's still out of the range.
But only by a bit so I guess it should be okay? : S

Miaomiao takes revenge

Today morning,
Momo as usual imagining himself as something recyclable,
jumped into the plastic bag of newspaper
and jumped around crazily inside the plastic bag.

I think Miaomiao must have been waiting for a chance for revenge,
cos Momo always likes to bully her.

She jumped onto the plastic bag,
hitting the plastic bag with her paw,
and even executed some sort of a kung fu swoop
while jumping from one side of the plastic bag to another

Momo is lucky Pepper didn't plan to take revenge at that time too.
