MiaoMiao's rights

MiaoMiao insists on sleeping on the foot mat

No matter how many times
we carry her to sleep on the bed,
she still insists.

Then she MUST look very forlorn,
sleeping on the mat

I swear,
we are not abusing her or something
she IS allowed to sleep on the bed or cushion

She just keep doing what she wants,
until we give up stopping her

How do you think she works her way up to being able to:
*sit and sleep on the chairs
*sit, sleep and walk all over our beds
*climb up all over the bicycle ??

And, the list goes on....

MiaoMiao vs. Homo Sapiens

MiaoMiao does her Number 2 (poo poo!)
when the homo sapiens at home switch on the fan.

What's on MiaoMiao's mind:
My mamas love me so much!
They just can't bear to see me sweaty and all
while I do my business

What's on homo sapiens' mind:
Wah! So smelly!
We really need the fan to help ventilate and get rid of the smell!

MiaoMiao missed Rugrat

As of today,
MiaoMiao has been in our family for 2 months

And in this 2 months
her toy MR Rugrat had undergone so much torment and chewing
that it was finally time for a wash

And MiaoMiao certainly missed her Rugrat loads
She jumped up on Mum (aka Popo)
when Mum was putting Rugrat on the bamboo pole

Then she stood up on her butt,
probably as a form of salute
as I was hanging Rugrat out to dry in the sun

Finally when Rugrat was dry and ready to be taken in
she kept her eyes on Rugrat suspended above her

(hehe, I even moved the bamboo stick here and there,
and she followed everywhere right below Rugrat)

After I enjoyed making fun of MiaoMiao,
I returned her MR Rugrat

And she chewed on it again with a relish
like she hasn't eaten for days

MiaoMiao's latest happenings=)

Press the buttons on the washing machine,
and don't be surprised when miaomiao sprints into the kitchen to attend her favourite pastime.

When the water comes out from the washing machine pipe during spin dry,
miaomiao will sit at the entrance of the bathroom staring and wondering how the water manages to come out of the pipe miraculously.

She even uses her paw to bat the water, in an attempt to stop the water from moving and therefore going against nature once more.

Rugrats is now fresh and clean from the washer!

Today when our mum put rugrats out to sun dry on the bamboo pole,
Miaomiao spotted this and apparently thought that popo was intruding on her belongings.
Jumped up on her popo.
But no harm was done la.
Naughty cat.

Yesterday miaomiao had a new collar.
Sleek, fashionable and shiny, it was bought from Pets lovers..
Anyway it's too large.
Maybe one day we can get a pro to bore an extra hole to make it smaller.

Pick on someone your own size!

You see,
when MiaoMiao likes to pick on things
not her own size,
she also ends up getting picked on.

by birds (which is not so her own size).

it was already bad enough
when the birds blatantly flew in
to snitch her food
(so what if she is a slow eater?
it's still not very nice of them to do that isn't it?)

And today,
or rather yesterday
(which passed around 40 minutes ago)
one of the EVIL ONES stood on the window ledge
and looked on
and looked on at MiaoMiao

this was done perhaps in a rather taunting manner

and MiaoMiao fell for the trick

she jumped up,
to the height of the window ledge,
but luckily not down

having accomplished what it wanted
the EVIL ONE flew off from its stratagic position

They just got nothing better to do isn't it?

The Glare Treatment

MiaoMiao has been a very naughty cat
and jumped on places she shouldn't be

It's no use scolding her really,
she doesn't care

So Ougwee and I have resorted to....
glaring at her while scolding her

She looks right,
and see Lindamum glaring at her

Looks left,
and Ougweemum glares at her

Finally she gives up
and looks up, at the ceiling
(MiaoMiao: Ah! At least the ceiling will never glare at me)

Someday we should put our glaring photos,
super-enlarged, on the ceiling
Then again I will just look stupid
when guests come over

Hmm,
I placed double-sided tape on the top surfaces
she can try jump up again for all she wants

Bathing day

Today is pom pom day for Kopi, Beanbean and Miaomiao

When Miaomiao was carried to the bathroom, she sense something was wrong. The door was closed, the floor was wet and her mama was laughing sinisterly.

Throughout the whole bath, she struggled, she clawed, she meowed but to no avail. Finally, when i was done, she was holding on to me for dear life. When she was on safe ground already, she snubbed her mama who had just bathed(and been scratched by) her. It was only when she was bribed with a short walk on the corridor that she decided to forgive her mama.

Then, it was time for Kopi and Beanbean to bathe. KPO Miaomiao decided to sit on the bed and try to peep at the bathroom at the same time. In the end, curiosity won and she went to sit near the door of the toilet watching Kopi bathe. Maybe she watched in horror, maybe she watched in shame. We won't know, since her face seems to have the same expression.

My brave Kopi, didn't run away at all. Sit nicely there (though she was frightened) while I massaged her pear-shaped body. Had to say, she looked slimmer when her body is wet. =D

Beanbean, on the other hand, was outside the bathroom with Ryan. He was helping to towel dry Beanbean. Fascinated by a guinea pig wrapped in a towel, Miaomiao ventured and take a little sniff. When Kopi was done, she joined Beanbean in the towel wrap too. 2 guinea pigs against 1 cat, Miaomiao took a hesitant step back.

What a scaredy cat.

Kopi and Beanbean were then dried using the hairdryer. So brave, they weren't scare of the hairdryer at all. It was so cute to see them fluffy and cuddled up together after the bath(muack). Too bad i forgot to take pictures.

MiaoMiao dozes off...while sitting

Got a bit of a surprise when we came home today

Miaomiao was sitting on the old TV cabinet,
looking rather sleepy

Then there she was sitting,
dozing...dozing..dozing off onto the wall,
which was right beside the cabinet

So poor thing!!!
Ougwee immediately carried Miaomiao over
to her bed to let MiaoMiao rest

MiaoMiao,
you know there is no need to do this,
I thought you can even get onto my upper-deck bed?

Peanut's house (which is a tank) is equipped with the aquarium cover on top. There was a time when i fed Peanut and didn't close the aquarium cover properly..underestimated Peanut. One of us caught a flash of white on the floor at the corner of our eyes.

All of us agreed upon being careful about the closing of Peanut's cage.

Another time. Peanut was found loitering in ah miao's litter box. (Thank goodness there wasn't any poo inside. *relief*)

We placed a piece of metal bar on top of the aquarium cover.

Peanut went to visit Kopi and BeanBean.

We placed a dictionary on top of the metal bar.

Peanut went running in his plastic wheelie ball.Suddenly, we saw him frolicking happily followed by Kopi. BeanBean, then Ah miao.

Peanut..we have a cat in the house now..please stop escaping at whim..=_<

Attention Seeker ALERT!

MiaoMiao has become a little bit of a Attention Seeker lately

You see,
she now gets attention not only from us,
who shower 101% of our attention on her
with her every meow
(we must really stop doing that,
we are spoiling her!)

and now she gets newfound attention,
from the "tom-cat" which she met a few days ago

(Apologies,
the "tom-cat" is in fact not a tom-cat,
Emily and Ougwee said it was a female)

"tom-cat" has appeared on our doorsteps twice after that incident
it doesn't help much that
MiaoMiao keeps sending meowing signals
to all her feline accquaintances outside,
as if to say "come here for food and lodging!"

As seen,
one such feline has responded to her call
and figured out how to get to our home

How?

Finally, about CocoaBi (Or just Cocoa)

Cocoa...
The little black plump hamster on the left is cocoa..The one on the right is her sister milky..This photo was taken when they were about 8 months old..Her sister passed away about one month later of a genetic problem..so cocoa has to begin life alone..

We got her from our aunt whose hamster had just given birth to a litter of 3..we picked this 2 little girl hamsters,leaving a brown one behind..sadly the brown one died at just about a few months old because it was bitten by its mum..=(

So even though cocoa was the smallest and most bullied of the litter, she is the one who survived in the end..she is now one year and seven months old..quite old for a dwarf hamster..so i just simply hope that she can at least live to her second birthday..(or longer)

When she was very young, she had a nice rounded figure that was frequently picked on by her owners..we would proudly carry her from her cage to show our friends how the fats would cover and blanket her eyes..however now, due to old age, she has become skinnier..=(

Corn is her favourite food..being a dwarf hamster, she eats very little..however this is different when it comes to corn.

Tom-cat danger

Fancy Feast treats don't work on MiaoMiao anymore
As she grows,
she grows out of old tricks too

Despite gettting her Fancy Feast bribe today,
she sprinted out of the house today,
as I was leaving for school this morning

And out to the corridor she ran,
a little further than where she usually run to

In my poor night/dark morning vision,
I saw something about 10m in front of me


Oh no.
A tom cat out there,
staring at MiaoMiao

As usual MiaoMiao "played hard to get"
running behind our flower pots
and finally darting over to the neighbour's plants.
She stayed under the pot rack,
refusing to come out,
just simply staring in the tom-cat's direction

I think the neighbour family was awake
I just hope they didn't hear me scolding MiaoMiao.
They might think they have a lunatic neighbour.

I had to resort to calling Emily,
waking her up from her peaceful sleep.
I really didn't know how to get MiaoMiao out
AND keep her away from that tom-cat
(sorry!!!)

It's understandable why
the tom-cat came up all the way
to look for MiaoMiao,
given how pretty she is.

But tom-cat,
MiaoMiao is out of your league!

Finally got MiaoMiao back
into the safety of home,
after 15 minutes of chasing after her

And I was late for lecture for 17 minutes,
thanks to Miss MiaoMiao.

Okay, I'm always late for my 8 o'clock lecture,
but it's still her fault.

We really need to look into sterilisation pretty soon

Brave MiaoMiao =)

MiaoMiao waiting for her turn at the vet

We brought MiaoMiao back to the vet today
for the injection she missed the day before

She has been a brave girl today,
and didn't cry out much today

The vet was rather shocked
that we brought MiaoMiao in a box though

Now that I think,
it would have been very hot and stuffy
if I myself were put in a box to be carried

Emily got a carrier for her,
which offers much luxury for movement
and so I guess future vet visits
will not be that torturous for MiaoMiao

We brought MiaoMiao home
in her new purple carrier

Bad thing is,
now we can't take her onto the bus
so in future we've got to take cabs to and fro the vet!

MR Peanut stars in movie BOLT

MR Peanut the white Syrian hamster
got a new running ball 2 days ago

He's getting bigger,
so it's a little cramped running
in his usual running ball

So now he has a clear LARGE running ball,
kind of like the hamster Rhino in the movie BOLT
and Miao can be the black cat Mittens
We just lack the main character dog BOLT.

Back to the vet!

MiaoMiao went to the vet today

Placed her in the box,
and pretty soon
she was meowing and whimpering like there was no tomorrow

During the journey we must have
appeared like idiots talking to a box

While waiting for our turn at the clinic
there was a Caucasian couple with a dog
The lady petted MiaoMiao,
then looked at us and asked
"Is she an indoor cat?"
"Are you going to be a responsible pet owner"
"Yes", we replied
"Going to neuter your cat..?"
I kept silent 'cos I heard noodle
and I was still trying to digest that sentence
Thanks goodness my sister answered,
or I might have said something stupid

MiaoMiao is now 1.2 kg,
as weighed by the vet today
Heavier and heavier by the day...

MiaoMiao yowled in pain
when her temperature was taken
(For your information, it's a rectal thermometer)
So I tried to console MiaoMiao
with Fancy Feast when she gets home

The vet heard me and said
"Fancy Feast? It's kind of very fanciful,
so many flavours and stuff.
I accidentally tasted it once. Not all that great"
Erm....

Turns out that MiaoMiao can't have her vaccination today
because of a slight fever
(she vomitted her food in the afternoon)

So wells, we will have to bring her back another day
and traumatise her all over again

She slept quite soundly when we reached home
The journey to the vet must have tired her out,
she didn't even try to run out to the corridor
when the front door was open

NEW this week on MiaoMiao's stunt list!

Our house has never felt so much like a playground
before MiaoMiao came

New addition to the list of stunts MiaoMiao can perform:
Climb up on the TV table, then jump up to the living room window

I was preparing to leave home for school this morning
when I saw MiaoMiao peering out of the living room window,
as if she was almost going to climb out

That gave me a shock,
and I closed the windows

I heard that in the afternoon she persisted in climbing up
and said hi to the Yakult auntie,
through the closed window

Tonight when the windows were open again
she started on her climbing adventure again

The way she meowed
before climbing up on the TV table
to get to the windows
was kind of worrying

We hope she's not going to get her first heat soon
We are not totally sure how old she is anyway

She's better not go out and find a boyfriend,
or she will forget about her mums here!

Fearless Miao

There was rather heavy rain today,
with lightning and thunder and all,
and MiaoMiao was quite scared during the first thunder

tried to console her but she didn't let me carry her,
so I just sayang-sayang her and touched noses with her
which she then got better

She wasn't scared of the subsequent thunders,
even the loud ones

Brave cat

But she didn't bother to console me,
when I was squatting and covering my ears
to block out the thunder sound

Probably thought what a scaredy cat I was,
when she wasn't one bit afraid at all

She kind of knows the "SIT" command already,
I think, after my sister taught her yesterday
could only get her to do it right once,
after which she ignored me whenever I tried

So much for consoling her earlier on

Hide and Seek

It's cute how MiaoMiao plays hide-and-seek

When she finds you,
she gives a little jump,
touching you with her two front paws,
as if to say "I found you!"

Ougwee tells me not to be so irritating
and keep popping out my head from the wall
every few seconds
Then MiaoMiao will obviously know
where I am hiding
But it's okay,
she can win all she wants

Besides,
I don't want to end up playing
the game of "hide-and-no one seek"
like MiaoMiao does,
so I need to check what she's doing isn't it?

One Month Anniversary!

Time passes fast,
now MiaoMiao has been here for a month

she's due for her vaccination this Wednesday
hope it will be better this time round

and in about 2 months' time
she will be due for her sterilisation

we seem to be taking away her feline rights and stuff,
but wells... no choice

hope MiaoMiao will understand that,
not that the only times we take her out
are for the sole purpose of torturing her
