MiaoMiao hates vet visits!

MiaoMiao for some reason or other
hurt her leg yesterday

So there was a scrape on her right ankle,
leaving the bone kinda exposed
gross I know

I wasn't there when MiaoMiao was at the vet
( I was sitting for an examination)
but since the 2 other Mamas are lazy to update the blog,
I shall update the blog,
from what I heard

MiaoMiao didn't like the vet one bit
She hissed and snarled at the vet,
making him comment that MiaoMiao is very fierce

Emily defended MiaoMiao
"She is usually a sweet cat"

And the vet said "hmm, sweet",
obviously very skeptical

And he didn't dare to put his hands in
to get MiaoMiao out of the carrier

Actually MiaoMiao didn't want to come out in the first place
Emily couldn't quite get her out

If I were there I might have turned the carrier over
so that MiaoMiao dropped out of the carrier
I know...Evil Evil Linda

Then the assistant wasn't very gentle to MiaoMiao either


MiaoMiao is usually very sweet most of the time TRUTHFULLY
She is just scared of strangers you see...

Then she got 2 injections, several oral prescriptions and also a topical application
all for $80+

Therefore she does live up to her Japanese name I gave her,
which is 重本喵喵 (high-cost MiaoMiao)
So now I am told not to say the wrong thing,
cos it just comes true when I give her a stupid name like that


*Note
(1) The turning over of the carrier so that MiaoMiao drops
out is just a joke! How would I ever do that to sweet little MiaoMiao?

(2) Why is it that Almond (Emily's boyfriend Ryan's dog) got such
different treatment from the vet and his assistant? The gushing over
and sayang sayang and stuff...UNFAIR!

Hehheh..Just bought this shirt from school..like it cuz it has a cute cartoon cat in front.

The next photo is a picture of baby miaomiao sleeping like a log, with her ears flattened against her popo's bed.

Anyway recent updates of miaomiao is that she has became a little more vocal, and is attempting to train linda to be aware that she HAS requests that constantly has to be fulfilled to satisfaction.For example, when lindamum appears to be quite slow in delivering daily meals to miaomiao, miaomiao will take some effort in reminding lindamum that she is hungry and needs her food NOW.This is done by tapping lindamum's legs with her front paws and looking at her expectantly.Lindamum will then quickly wipe miaomiao's bowl dry so that miaomiao can start meal immediately.

MiaoMiao's e-collar finally off!

MiaoMiao's e-collar is finally off,
as of about 12:40am today

then she went into her Obsessive Compulsive Disorder state,
and went about grooming herself for hours on

She was, fortunately, spared the torturous bathing

She enjoyed her new refound freedom of course.
Like this morning I looked up and down
and couldn't find her

And I searched the house for 10 minutes
before I found her.

2. Thou shalt concede defeat if MiaoMiao has won in Hide and Seek game

MiaoMiao just has to show that
she has indeed won in her hide and seek game!

She hides behind the pillow
Lindamum hides under the bed
MiaoMiao sprints,
and "attacks" Lindamum just before
her very slow mama realises it!

But she forgets the standard hide-and-seek rule:
Tap once when you find your mama

Instead she jumps towards mama,
and taps, one, two, three, four, five on Mama's head


Miaomiao,
ONCE is enough!
I concede defeat!

... and she carries on tapping my face when I look up at her

then she returns gleefully to her secret position,
waiting for the next round of hide-and-seek game to start

Linda is just such a sore loser isn't it?

What is MiaoMiao dreaming of?

by the way,

her e-collar is still on cos her stitches have still not come off

she doesn't seem to mind that much though

maybe she thought that the e-collar is now a permanent part of herself :)

e-collar's coming off....soon!

MiaoMiao's surgery would is pretty much healed,
so her e-collar is coming off soon (in about 2 days)!

Actually we could have took it off 2 days ago,
but we decided to leave it on longer to play safe

But before we take it off,
we are going to have to give her a bath first!!
Muahahaaha!!!

You see, MiaoMiao,
the rainbow always come AFTER the rain

But the e-collar does have some benefits for us
For example
she can't run out the door as she wishes,
cos her e-collar is wider than the grille width

and we also didn't have to worry about
her climbing up the windows,
because her e-collar is ALSO wider than the window grilles!

Ha!
MiaoMiao should realise she has one very evil mama here :P

The MiaoMiao Manual, Chapter 1

How to do poop-poop, MiaoMiao's style
1. Give a loud "MeooW!!" (Remember that you are a considerate cat,
you need to give your mamas some mental preparation.
2. Primly step into your white litter box. Wiser cats step right into the
litter box, and not onto the side of the box, which cause the litter box
to turn over and all litter to spill.
3. Start digging. Paws must move in such a pattern: Right up, left down.
Right down, left up.
Repeat this for about 10 times.
4. Get into bowel position and poop. Look as serious as you can,
and if possible get a piece of litter into your nostrils to crack
up your mamas.
5. Bury your poop.
6. Step out of the litter box. This time it is MORE important not to
overturn your litter box, or you will spill both your litter AND poop
7. Give another "Meeow" to let your mama know that they can
now clean up after you.
8. Hide up! Mama is going to come and clean your smelly butt!

The day after sterilisation

MiaoMiao's a little better today.

Bits of hair growing on her stomach
and she can sleep on her own
when no one's with her

Thing is,
she still insists on carrying out her daily grooming routine.

So she ends up licking her e-collar all the time
I wonder if she knows that
she is in fact not grooming herself.

Never mind,
e-collar grooming still counts for something
when she can't groom herself

MiaoMiao's back!

As I am writing this

I am chaperoning MiaoMiao,

who is quite soundly asleep.

Quite.

She refuses to sleep when there's nobody accompanying her

We collected MiaoMiao from the vet at 5.30pm

and boy, MiaoMiao must have thought that

we were abandoning her,

'cos when she saw us,

she gave a meow, like "You are here!"

How could we ever abandon you?

She's become skinnier, a lot.

For some reason or other

her whole lower body was more sunken,

even though (as what I thought),

only a uterus was removed

I wonder how big a cat's uterus is.

Instructions from the vet clinic were:

1. Keep on the e-collar (short for Elizabethan-collar) for 10 days

2. No bathing for 10 days

(still within manageable scope)

.

.

5. No jumping

6. No running

(Which is rather hard,

since it is exactly what she usually does at home)

At home,

we let her out of the carrier,

and it was evident that she was super weak,

pretty much still under the effects of anthanesia,

yet trying not to sleep,

struggling to keep her eyelids open

Like with her usual habit

she made an attempt to jump up onto the bed,

however she was really too weak

and tumbled sideways down the bed,

just as her front paws touched the side of the bed

Then from then on

someone had to follow her every minute

making sure she didn't jump, run,

anything which might aggravate her surgery wound

She seems a little irritated

that I keep following her everywhere,

but bear with it a little MiaoMiao!

Popo even called home to see how MiaoMiao was

(See? MiaoMiao,

even if Popo keeps laughing at you

in your most unglam moments,

she still cares about you right?)

MiaoMiao goes for spaying

Brought MiaoMiao to the vet for sterillisation today
She was rather grumpy in the morning,
since we didn't feed her no matter how she meowed
(We couldn't! She had to fast 8 hours before the surgery)

So along with MiaoMiao,
MR Rugrats, Goofy and her cushion
followed her into the carrier

While walking over to the vet
we saw two guys climbing out of their school campus,
then sauntering off
Hmm. Interesting.
But I shall not say which school

Thought that we could stay a little
til MiaoMiao finished surgery or something
But we actually had to simply
leave MiaoMiao with the receptionist and go

I didn't know so fast hand over,
didn't hughug MiaoMiao before going off
what if she thought we abandoning her how?

The vet called Emily later on,
saying that MiaoMiao is quite small (1.45kg)
so there might be some risks,
though if we wait til MiaoMiao is older,
there will also be higher chance of cancer and so on.

I wasn't too worried about her safety earlier on
Now I am.

We will be going over to collect her at 7pm
Hope she won't be too grumpy later on,
for us "betraying" her over and over again

Kopi was so small when she just came



And this is what happen 2 years later

Beanbean and her have their usual dry pellet meals and sometimes the occasionally,weekly, ok, DAILY vegetable and fruits happy meal. We called that the happy meal because they are always so happy when they hear me cutting the vegetables/cucumbers/tomatoes for them! They'll run in the kitchen and "Wheek wheek wheek"(why're you taking so long mama?)

But really, I didn't overfeed them. My darlings need to eat happy meals regularly for their Vitamin C intake. Well, maybe I can give a smaller portion each time =P

Actually, Kopi is so chubby because firstly, that picture is taken close up. 2ndly, she likes to snatch Beanbean's food (everybody knows that) and thirdly, she can eat and eat even though she's already full.

I don't know why, but Beanbean seems to be a very 'well disciplined' guinea pig. When she's full, she will stop eating. That's why she didn't get as chubby as Kopi. We always heard that guinea pigs will keep munching and munching. But Beanbean just eat until she's full then she will walk around the house to 'exercise'. Kopi, on the other hand, keeps returning to the food dish and gobble everything up. 'Gobble' being the main verb in the sentence.

I love them both.. Sometimes their antics really made me laugh =)

MiaoMiao's dreaded day finally comes..(tomorrow)

MiaoMiao is going for her sterilisation appointment tomorrow..
Don't know why..
I get the feeling that in the end her weight will be too light for the operation..
Then she will get to escape.

Poor MiaoMiao has to fast for eight hrs before the operation
So miaomiao's food and water (and electrical??) supply will be cut by 0000hrs tonight.
We are even considering not to let her in the toilet
just in case
she is smart enough to drink from the Great White Drinking Bowl (which is the toilet bowl la)

Anyway, MiaoMiao was just playing hide and seek happily with emily and ryan,
completely unaware of the looming catastrophe about to befall upon her the day after...
MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

The cab won't take us :(

Just got back from the vet

MiaoMiao's due for the vet today
for her third vaccination,
and we decided to clip her nails today too

MiaoMiao is calmer and calmer
with each vaccination,
and this time it was much better

the vet even praised MiaoMiao
for being so obedient while cutting her nails :)

except the part which she kept running over to us,
probably to ask for help

she is now at 1.5kg,
quite far off from the 3-4kg
she was supposed to be weighing

after coming out from the vet clinic
we hailed a cab to get home

the first cab we hailed,
the cabby gestured me over
and asked "Cat or dog?"

"Cat" I replied

Then he gave that dismissive gesture
and drove off

HELLO?
MiaoMiao is safely locked in a good carrier,
and even the vet says she is very obedient,
(Vet: "MiaoMiao has lots of potential!" *grinning*)
so what problem do you have with her?

Fortunately for us,
a cab drove up straight after,
and the driver was more than willing to take us

"He got money don't want to earn huh?"
The cab driver asked us, rather amused.

Thankfully for us
there are understanding cab drivers

Or,
if we don't have money to get a CAR,
and can't get on the BUS,
and even CABS don't want to take us,
how the HECK are we getting to the vet?
In case it is not obvious enough,
we are not immortals
and walking to the clinic all by ourselves
would surely take like 2 hours

2 hours of traumatic journey for MiaoMiao

So MiaoMiao is due for her sterillisation trip this Wednesday
And her popo can also come along to fetch her!

MiaoMiao is a little grumpy right now

Maybe it's because how
we never seem to have anything good up our sleeve
when we bring her out

Peeping Miao

Was in the toilet today
when I suddenly saw something move

Something black.

Then it moved to the door.
Curiously exploring every square inch of the place
like she always does

Miaomiao!!!

Then I was like
"Ahh!! Peeping cat!!"
and I think I startled MiaoMiao,
and then Ougwee and I was laughing so much we couldn't stop

Then I opened the door
and MiaoMiao rushed to the safety of the underneath of the bed

No need to hide MiaoMiao,
I already know that you are a Peeping Cat

Touch noses?

I think I should start to wonder
what's in MiaoMiao's diet,
other than her usual dry food and Fancy Feast
and some other cooked stuff she get

She was taking her walk in the corridor today
when halfway,
she dashed towards the neighbour's home

Thinking that she must be trying to get to their plants yet again,
I caught up after her to stop her

Then I realised it's not the plants.
It's a lizard!!!
Maybe she's just too enticed by moving things,
Let's hope she's not the exotic eater type

Then at home
She started chasing a fly,
like how she always chases her laser beam,
all 4 feet trying to cover as much ground as possible

Simply said,
rather clumsy-looking when she does that
imagine her 4 feet moving in different directions at the same time

I shall need to reconsider
before touching noses with her in future...

MiaoMiao not feeling well?

Miao Miao was rather listless today..
Yesterday wanted to bring her to wiggles' hub to cut nails
But fortunately for her,
the shop was closed.

She went underneath the bed this afternoon
and stared forlornly at me from below
I was so afraid that because yesterday was such a scorching hot day
I might have caused her to be sick because of going outside.

She did not even want to play "hide behind the pillows"
which is played when I (or my sisters) lie down on my bed and our faces are inevitably hidden behind the pillows.
Then Miao Miao will think we want to play hide and seek and also hide behind another pillow,
with the tips of her ears peeking out from the edge of the pillow,
and her having a very crazed expression.
Someday I will try to take a picture of it.

(Sometimes when I'm searching for clothes and miaomiao is behind me cuz she is lying on my bed, I have a very uneasy feeling..then i can't help it but look behind to see her crazed expression.)

Fortunately, today night she went back to her normal self.
She jumped out from behind the cupboard to bat me (without claws extracted) on my chest,
as if to say,
"come and find me!"
Then she ran away.
I played hide and seek with her for fifteen minutes..
She like to suddenly peek out and then surprise attack..
but she only use her paws to gently bat my head..

P.S Fat cat (a.k.a. tom cat,but she is actually a female) continues to look for her almost everyday..i wonder how she manages to get up on the eleven floor..i saw her at the first floor today,when just about half an hour ago, she was outside our home.
Calling her fat cat is mean..but the name has stuck..and she is really quite plump.
