Pepper is back home!

Pepper is back now
He is a little weak now,
but better than how MiaoMiao was then,
walks a little awkwardly,
and is too peaceful to be Pepper

And the thing is,
Miaomiao can't really recognise him.
The foreign smell on him is really strong I guess

MiaoMiao had whacked his head a few times so far,
since he was home
Some welcoming back is that

He didn't have any appetite after he came home
but he just managed to swallow some wet food,
after some persuasion

He just likes to sleep on Emily's slippers for now

the kitten that tugs at the strings of your heart

there was this little white-and-brown kitten
at the vet clinic while we were there

it was unfortunately knocked over by a car
and it's paralysed in its right leg from the accident

it was really such a sweet and endearing kitten,
loved humans so much,
it kept rubbing its head against our hands
when we were stroking her

it had to use its other 3 limbs
to drag itself around,
because its right leg could not be used at all

the vet asked if we wanted to adopt it,
if they were able to treat it
but we already have 2 cats,
and the last time when Pepper came
we said to ourselves that 2 is the maximum

I used "it" because I don't know what gender is it
Hope that someone will adopt it soon

Pepper's sterilisation trip

Pepper is at the vet right now
Today we sent him for his sterilisation,
so we had to start him on a fast
from about 12am onwards

Of course he was a little unhappy,
cos MiaoMiao got to eat and he didn't
Felt quite bad about it
and had to keep him in another room
while we fed MiaoMiao

"Where am I going?"

MiaoMiao wonders what is going to happen to her little boy

Popo once commented that

MiaoMiao will not bother to look for Pepper

while Pepper is not at home

She was very wrong.

When Pepper was taken out by us,

she started meowing very loudly,

looking for Pepper.

Wells,

in about 3 hours she will be able to see her Pepper

we are missing him too

Pepper was very very scared
when we were taking him to the vet
he was meowing like a little child

the cab driver had a lot of questions

to ask about Pepper

same questions though,

like why we have cats and not dogs

I definitely prefer this vet clinic

to the one we brought MiaoMiao for sterilisation

the vet gave Pepper a check-over

in the room with us,

and explained what she were checking

what's more,

she also took a sample from Pepper's fur

to check for suspected parasites

because there were white stuff on his fur

but nothing was wrong,

Pepper just get all those "dandruff" all the time,

maybe it's because his fur is black

the last time we brought MiaoMiao

for sterilisation at the other vet clinic

we were told to just leave her there with the staff,

it would have been so much better

if she was checked over with us there

At one point of time

during the check-over

he cuddled against me

(I was standing near the examination table)

and buried his head in the crook of my arm

I can see that my elbow is a great source of comfort

for both MiaoMiao and Peper

Pepper really got to stop

giving that saucepan expression whereever he goes

We keep getting questions of whether he is fierce

(the nurse asked us)

when he's really a gentle kitten who likes to cuddle against us

and the vet didn't remember who was MiaoMiao
(her "New Year Present")
She said that she simply loved Pepper's tag
which I was rather amused
because the last time she saw MiaoMiao's tag,
she commented that "the name so big sure can see"
which didn't sound like a compliment on the tag

and Pepper is sure to be quite frightened right now
maybe he's made friends with the animal patients there though

Out of Cat Litter!

Been going over to Wiggles' Hut
the past few days to restock on cat litter,
only to find it closed

It sells wood shavings and cat litter
at a bargain,
so we have been faithfully buying from them

A few months ago,
they stopped selling wood shaving

Today when we finally saw the shop open,
we then found that they are also not selling cat litter anymore

Shall have to get them from another place,
and probably at a higher price

Walking around to look for places selling cat litter in vain
on an empty stomach sure makes one very crabby

Cotton Buds are COOL!

When Ougwee saw that
Pepper was playing with a cotton bud
I gave him this morning,
she said
"Aiyo, why you give him cotton bud play?"

You see,
it's like that.
Pepper has been very interested
in digging out stuffs from our litter bin nowadays

so this morning he was obssessed
with fishing out cotton buds,
USED cotton buds out to play

in fact, til now he is still quite obssessed
when he can sneak into the bedroom
he first runs for the litter bin

sighs
what's up with cotton buds by the way?

so that was the story
behind my decision to give him a fresh cotton bud
for him to play

Pepper's sterilisation coming

Pepper has an appointment
for his sterillisation next Wednesday!

He will need to go on a fast the day before.
It was easy for Miaomiao the other time,
since there was only her

Now that there are 2 cats,
Pepper's fast would mean that
MiaoMiao won't be able to
get any food and water on Tuesday night,
when we sleep

And another reason why it is so hard for him to fast
is that he just helps himself to our food
whenever he gets the chance.
so maybe his mamas should go on a fast too

Jade Hands

Cutting MiaoMiao's nails secretly
while she's sleeping doesn't really work anymore

I try to cut one,
and she immediately wakes up,
tucks her two paws under herself,
and then go back to sleep

which is why we call her paws the "jade hands"
her mamas touch her paws also cannot.

Bathing Time!

MiaoMiao and Pepper got a bath today.

Sometimes bathing them seems
to make us look like murderers.

Even though they clean themselves daily,
we still bath them once in a while
because they get a little smelly
(especially MiaoMiao's head, where she can't reach.

Pepper?
No worries, because MiaoMiao cleans it for him)

MiaoMiao went for her bath first,
and this time it was better,
maybe because we were calmer
and she wasn't so nervous.

towards the end she started to get scared.
Which explains the new "mole" on Ougwee's face

While we were drying MiaoMiao up
she was clinging on to me,
in a rather awkward position,
with her head facing downwards

So we adjusted her position,
putting her paws on my shoulder.

It turned out that she wanted to bury her head
in the crook of my arms,
so we just left her in her favourite position

It's only times like this or at the vet
that she holds on to me like I'm her dearest mama

Pepper was easier to bath,
because he was smaller.
But he was the one
who made Ougwee very, very wet.

And we discovered that
his pink little nose turns grey when bathing
maybe he was a little cold

Then after that he was a little angry with us,
and didn't let us come near him
Hmmph. Petty cat.

MiaoMiao's 10 Commandants - #3

3. Thou shalt not snatch my food

Recently,
Miaomiao found herself a new TREAT!

She loves the yellow or green-coloured food bit
in the guinea pigs' food
So when she sees their food dish outside, unattended,
she sneaks over to the food dish
and pick out that very nice food bit

Then Pepper comes over,
curious about MiaoMiao's new discovery

And Miaomiao lets out
a threatening meow/low growl,
depending on how precious the food is to her

One thing MiaoMiao is quite sensitive about,
is Pepper coming near her stuff you see

And Pepper still have not learnt his lesson yet
even after MiaoMiao whacked him before for coming too near
(No claws were used, just a normal whack)

Pepper comes to snitch again!

The wake up call

Today I woke up before 9am,
courtesy of the very helpful Pepper

10 minutes before 8,
he did his orh-el-orh-el meow,
walking across the bed to and fro

It turned out that he was not hungry at all

At about 8.30am
he repeated his routine again,
this time trying to dig his little head
into my stomach
(Pepper, NO milk means no milk! Stop trying!)

I finally gave up and got up from my bed.
MiaoMiao was nicer.
I spotted her looking up from the table,
perhaps to see if Pepper would succeed in his mission

It's very bad now that Pepper can climb,
with much ease, up to our beds

New Game By Pepper

Snatch that FOOD!

1. The game takes place at around 6.20am, when Mama is taking her breakfast.
2. Jump up and sit on her lap. Her hands will be oily with the food,
so she will not touch you!
3. The game starts NOW! Snatch a bite of bread and earn 1 point;
a bite of cheesecake earns 50 points; a sip of her kopi earns 10 points.
4. So far Pepper has been awarded 1 point.
(According to Linda's record...
But you never know, maybe Pepper earned some when she was away for a while.)

Who moved my Dish?

Time for makan
and yet Pepper's blue food dish could not be found

It was found under the refrigerator.
(Did I mention that Pepper
is our little Hercules because
he likes to push things around?)

Pepper,
are you trying to start a food strike
because we won't let you eat from MiaoMiao's food dish?

The innocent trouble-maker

Pepper's tail is kind of hooked
(like the handle of an umbrella)
so sometimes it cause him trouble
when he don't want to

So one day he walked behind the television
and his hooked tail caught on to
the wire of the modem

The modem fell to the ground,
and Pepper was totally innocent.

And sometimes he also gets things
trailing hehind him as he walks,
because his tail just catches on to them

This is the characteristic of
an impish mischievous cat I guess,
that he causes trouble even when he doesn't want to ;)

DO NOT RECYCLE

Pepper obviously feels that
there are some things we shouldn't have to recycle

We have a recycling corner thing in our kitchen,
which we place in things we can recycle
and then bring it down to the neighbourhood recycling bin
from time to time

In the middle of the night
Pepper fishes a piece of plastic from the corner
(He selects that piece particularly becauses
it has a crinkly sound which he loves!)

Then he holds it in his mouth
and run into the bedroom
and drops it on Ougwee's bed,
while she is sleeping.

Then he looks expectantly at
Ougwee's sleeping face,
waiting for her to throw it out
so that he can play FETCH!

Of course he didn't get to play his favourite game.

It was only when Ougwee woke up in the morning
that she will see the piece of plastic on her bed,
and have some vague memory of
Pepper jumping up onto her bed with this piece of crinkly plastic.

MiaoMiao HATES orange!!

Pepper got to wear a little orange shirt today

(we tried it on MiaoMiao last month,

but she totally hated it)

And MiaoMiao looked at Pepper,

in his little orange shirt

Her tail fluffed up.

She backed away.

She was so scared of Pepper

when he was in the orange shirt!

I wonder why...

Now that I think,

when she just came,

she was also a little scared of me

whenever I wore my orange orientation tee

Maybe orange looks scary in the cat's eye

Then she smelled Pepper's butt

(Hmm..It's still the same smelly butt!!)

And then she smelled the shirt again.

Then she got scared and backed off from Pepper

After 15 minutes,

Pepper finally got tired of the shirt

so we had to remove it from him.

No wonder most shops don't sell clothes for cats...
