MiaoMiao is growing up!

MiaoMiao is not scared of the
water spray-cum-water demon anymore

And mind you,
mine is on the upper deck of the double decker bed!!

Shall laugh at MiaoMiao
if she can't get down from my bed in future

As I am currently showing off to a friend,
I can predict when MiaoMiao is going to poo!

And so I told Ougwee to bring her to her litter box,
which was the right decision after all

HAHA! Smart of me isn't it?

And I remember the day
I had to crawl under the bed to clear MiaoMiao's smelly poo,
which is so much worser than dog poo

I admit it did give me second thoughts
on whether we should be keeping her

Now MiaoMiao does her business properly
and even gives her starting and ending meows

A comfy place..

I was at the void deck today

when I saw MiaoMiao's mum

A calico tortoiseshell cat just like MiaoMiao,

much bigger and also pregnant

Just then,

an uncle pushing a pram

approached MiaoMiao's mum,

calling "MiaoMiao, MiaoMiao!"

*FAINTS*

So MiaoMiao's mum is MiaoMiao,

and MiaoMiao's daughter is also MiaoMiao

But nevermind,

our MiaoMiao now has a tag which proudly bears her name,

and our house number (6 XXX XXXX) on the other side

MiaoMiao with her new tag

So MiaoMiao will always be our MiaoMiao :)

New way of exercising

I was in the living room watching television, when it dawned on me that it is so peaceful watching the telly. Something seemed to be missing..

Oh yes, Peanut's wheel. It is usually so loud when he's running wheel at night.

Why then, it's so quiet now? I wondered and I turned and looked.

Little peanut has think of a new way of exercising. Relatively quiet, creative and perhaps exciting to him. =)

I was doing my Applied Chemistry assignment today
while as usual,
I fell asleep halfway

while I was in my mini-nap-dream,

For some reason or other
MiaoMiao looks on rather intently
when I'm scratching at an itch

then comes closer

so I immediately stop scratching

My friend suggests that

Smelly Poo Poo

MiaoMiao shall be called
Smelly-poo-poo from now on
At least by me (once in a while)
So far she doesn't seem to
vehemently object to her new name

Little miao on my bed

Had a stupid dream about some doctor injecting something into my head..and then tapping her finger gently to make sure there are no bumps on my head that may be caused by the injection.

This stupid dream is not caused by my wild imagination, or anything.It's totally miaomiao's fault..You see, my head faces the fan directly and so some of my hair is like flying/floating in the air..

In an attempt to rebel against nature, she was using her paw to help me make sure my hair don't go messy..(Like real la..she juz nothing to do then keep on stare at my hair and then using her paw to hold my hair down whenever my hair moved)

Later (because of her) I woke up..and then she walked all over my body so that she can face me directly and her wet nose kept touching my mouth..Then she saw my eye pupils constantly moving around and she look excitedly and wanted to bat my face/eyes too..=_=

That time she also on my bed while im sleeping and then her fur kept rubbing against my leg..then in my dream my leg keep on very itchy..

Okay..despite all..she still wakes me up everyday at a decent time and i don't mind la..it's better compared to the past where she wake me up at 4am..when i forgot to adjust my alarm, i can always rely on ah miao..haha..

she jumped out from behind the TV cabinet,

A totally random update..

Yesterday Ah miao met our family guinea pigs!!(Anyway all our pets,the hamsters and guinea pigs, belongs to the whole family..Everybody plays a part in taking care for them so it's kind of sweet..)

She was on a harness and leash..and i think she doesnt mean any harm la..cuz she only like gently bat their noses and the guinea pigs run away..

She keep on purposely (Thats wad me and linda thinks) run around the chairs and table leg,so that the leash will wind around and then me or linda have to get down on our knees and keep on unwind..become very sweaty at the end..

And today ah miao smeared poopoo onto the floor again..linda suay lor..it's like 5am in the morning and she was the only one who was awake as she have to go to school..so she have to clear it up...

Ok..she is right beside me now and she informs me that actually its 7am..and then only a little bit of poo is on the floor..so no nid to sympathise la...

Ah miao is chasing a laser beam now..u know that kind use to shine on the screen? This is very beneficial to us as we can juz stand with our arm leaning against a cupboard and our right ankle crossing over left ankle and juz point the light everywhere and let her chase it crazily..

Lastly..nowadays i look at miaomiao and i realise that our baby girl is growing up..but she will always be our baby..=D Feel abit sentimental..haha..

MiaoMiao is BORED....

MiaoMiao may act rather angelic sometimes,
but she's not.
especially when....everyone's not looking

When everyone's awake she walks and runs on the ground,
when everyone's asleep she climbs all over the bicycle

this I only learnt this morning when I woke up

Hmm we need to think of getting new toys for MiaoMiao soon!
She seems to be getting bored of her toys sometimes
and so looks for some other alternative

And it's a danger (not an honour)
when she looks at you so intently.
Once she was looking so intently at me
then the next moment
JUMP!
she pounced at my hair,
which is quite long and unwittingly invited her attention

maybe Miao will only give up when I get an army cut

New litter for Miao

On 10 February 2009
MiaoMiao got to go out,
as she wished
on a leash and harness

on her 2nd walk out yesterday
she,
upon strangers approaching from afar
stiffened and turned tail
and sprinted back to the safety of home!

she must have been bullied by people
when she was out in the streets last time

so people out there
who've got the habit of BULLYING stray animals,
STOP IT!!!!

poor thing...

but that of course,
didn't stop her curiosity about her outside world,
she still kept running out when she had the chance
then..... sitting and sniffing the plants

MiaoMiao is kind of wells...a little neurotic,
I have to say

Today...
Got a new type of cat litter for MiaoMiao
those cat sand type,
previously she was using wood shaving

I guess it's pretty hard for her to
transit from flaky to grainy cat litter,
so she wasn't able to dig so well,
and wells,
got poo-ey pawprint all over the house,
that even we homo sapiens
with a sense of smell not as strong as sensitve as her
couldn't stand the poo smell wafting all over our house!!!
*FAINTS*
apparently her poo does smell rather decent to her,
given her super smell sense

Miao stepped proudly into the kitchen
and took a few steps
before we realised the disaster upon us

rushed to the living room
and there it was,
Miao's poo mishap evidence on the floor out there

had to clean the floor,
and not to mention clean her paws

she went crazy upon touching water
and threatened to pull our skin out
(thanks goodness she is much smaller than us)
after her water traumatising incident
we tried to wipe her dry,
but she turned her back on us
and licked her "wound" dry

I get what that cat book says,
that cats like to bat someone's leg
when they walk past,
as a form of feline retribution

Miao did that to me today

MiaoMiao's "outside" world

MiaoMiao is rather curious about the "outside world" these few days

I think she kind of forgot she IS from the outside world

twice she had stood near the door

when I was going out for school

and I had to throw rugrat away from the door

so that she would chase after rugrat

and not try to get out

Sooner or later she will be wiser

and not chase after Rugrat

then I would have to resort to other methods to TRICK her

Actually the best way would be to give her FANCY FEAST

but, that's for occasional treats!

In the afternoon

she positioned herself near the door

when someone was returning

and took the opportunity to get out!

Then Auntie Linda got flustered

and tried to catch her

Actually I realise that she's merely curious about

the corridor and plants outside

But I admit,

I DO worry that when she gets out to her "outside world",

she will like it too much,

and will not want to come back home

and MiaoMiao hates the harness and leash..

So? How to go gaigai, MiaoMiao?

Anyway,

I realised something yesterday

Like MiaoMiao's friend over here,

it's actually PLUTO and not Goofy

so malu lor,

Actually my sisters thought it was Goofy too,

so HEHE! I'm not the only one!

Xiao Peanut

For the past decade, people has enjoyed watching Jackie Chan's flim. No one has ever managed to copy his stunt perfectly.

Except now.

Yeah. That's right! My hyperactive Syrian hamster Peanut. Borned on 10 Dec 2008, Peanut arrived at our house on 28 Dec 2008. He was only 2 weeks old but he already looks big(coz he's Syrian)



Every night @ 9pm, Peanut would be out, attemping 'prison break' or running on his wheel at full speed. His super high energy allows him to be on the move for 2 or 3 hours and then he would rest 5 minutes in his nest before running for 3 hours again

He is going to be 2 months old soon and he's getting bigger and bigger =) He's a sweet boy and I love him so! Gentle Peanut is always out for visits to play with my tutee Andy. See, people love him!

In comes the Water Demon!!

As of now MiaoMiao has more belongings
in our house,

such as her poor little Rugrat playmate,

her Goofy friend...see? With the same red ribbon somemore

(which I had to admit used to be my birthday present *guilty*)



her favourite sleep cushion,

a scratching post which she doesn't like to use,

her new play ball,





but unfortunately with all those
comes a NEW WATER SPRAY,
because with all her darling moments
she will still have her many naughty times


And this is obviously a better method than
a suggested one to " claw her back, if she claws me"
You know,
" Do you go bite the dog if he bites you?"


So,
MiaoMiao got her maiden spray today,
for trying to attack our telephone wires

The spray bottle was nicely positioned behind her back,
then SPRAY!!!!!


You should have seen her reaction,
like she was so shocked that
a Water Demon actually existed in her nice sweet home

so, MiaoMiao'd better be on her best behaviour from now on
cos now we got a Water Demon as our new weapon!!!
Muahahahaha!!!


So,
does MiaoMiao still want to climb up on Ougwee's bed
and walk all over her?
Actually,
the climbing up part is not much of an offence,
it's the WAKING UP of my sister every night
to MiaoMiao's Thai Massage Therapy that is very bad.

actually every morning at 4am

To think Ougwee was actually nice enough
to let MiaoMiao sleep next to her bed,
cos MiaoMiao hates to sleep alone

Sleepy baby..

Woke up in early morning and could not find miao miao..(5am) Where is she??At the only bedroom that have its door open la..she is so sweet..don't like to sleep alone in a room..i moved her little pillow to the bedroom so she can sleep in me and mama's room comfortably lor..

(Afternoon)
Today miaomiao slept for almost the whole day la..so i thought i could go daiso to buy some things for her..though its abit budget..

Took like 10 min to choose a nice leash and harness cuz i too choosy le..read on many places that can try walk the pet cat to ensure that they don't grow bored at home..then also bought a scratching pad but she don't use..poop scoop..spray spray..(to spray her with water if she does something wrong)

Wooh..hoped she can get used to the harness and leash then next time can take her go gai gai..(go out)

Miaomiao's first trip to the vet

Yesterday miao miao had her first bath..Thankfully it went quite well..

Afterwards wanted to make sure that she was really dry, so we got a hairdryer to do the job, however as i was testing the hairdryer, miaomiao twisted out of 2nd sis's arms and dashed off..

So forget it.

To add on to this bad experience, miaomiao had a trip to the vet planned for that day. So we put her in the pet lovers centre carrier and off we went.

Turned out that the vet we had planned to go was closed, so we had to go to another vet that was beside a street of terrace houses and bungalows.

In we went..nice and quiet inside..the receptionist was all smiles..

Our turn to go in liao..the female vet saw miaomiao's little ribbon tied on her little neck and commented that miaomiao like a new yr prezzie..hmm..quite true since we found her on chu san.

When the nurse took a rectal thermometer out and took miaomiao temp, the poor baby whined and struggled..this is just a small part.

Miaomiao had to undergo a jab and swallow a pill..when the jab was just pierced in, she yowled like damn pain..very xin tong..( heart pain) some tears came out..=(

The nurse then pry miaomiao's mouth open then pop a pill in..thank goodness her hand moved fast..otherwise miaomiao's teeth would have clamped down on it..

Like very difficult to swallow leh..the thought of swallowing a pill without water sounds disgusting to me..anyway ah miao no choice and she like want to choke liao..

So thats the end of the horrible vet trip..when reach home gave her some nice wet food as a treat lor..she kind of like sleepys anyway..slept for almost the whole remaining day..

Then at night i guess the vaccine has kicked in and she like very lethargic and don't want people to touch her..i tink cuz of aching joints la..

Sigh..don't know how the next vet trip will turn out..

MiaoMiao's first vet visit

Emily and Ougwee brought MiaoMiao to the vet today
I didn't go,
cos I had group assignment discussion today

According to the vet,
MiaoMiao is a female

That's cool
Then I won't be like so malu
using she she and she all this while
when it was actually a he

Yup, a calico tortoiseshell she
For those who take biology
the calico tortoiseshell coat is due to some recessive sex-linked allele
So calicos tortoiseshells are almost always females
and I read somewhere
that male calicos will not be able to reproduce

So,
now MiaoMiao is rather grouchy
(perhaps blaming them for bringing her to that horrible place, ha!)

funny that the vet didn't mention a word
of how bad the side effects would be after the vaccination
like how MiaoMiao has been sleeping all the way til now
like how when she sees us, she doesn't follow us like an ardent fan
Just hope that it will be over in a day

And I guess we can expect her reaction
when we prepare the carrier box for the next vet visit

What is our MiaoMiao thinking?

Here's re-enacting what happened a few seconds ago:

Emily: "She more and more not so clumsy now."

*Miaomiao promptly somersaulted backwards down the low table*

Obviously it wasn't any new stunts she learnt

She walked away nonchalantly from her site of accident,

as if the very embarrassing incident didn't happen at all

Okay,

before I forget,

Now MiaoMiao has an OFFICIAL name

called MiaoMiao

You see,

actually I complained that MiaoMiao was too common a name

("All cats are MiaoMiao/Maomi")

But in our days of not giving her a permanant name

as we were supposedly not keeping her,

we gave her a temporary name "MiaoMiao"

so, MiaoMiao MiaoMiao

we can't get used to calling her anything else

so yup Miao Miao she is now :)

actually,

now we are not sure whether it's

a she or a he

so we'll see how at the vet tomorrow

I guess as time goes by

we will figure out what she is thinking

Kopi and Beanbean the guinea pigs

Well, it’s the first time I am writing in a blog. Everything can’t be about the MiaoMiao right? Don’t be misunderstood, I love her. But since it’s called miaowheeksqueak, I should talk a little about my other family members. So I formally introduce.. My Darling Guinea Pigs!

This is Kopi, my 2 year old guinea pig.. she has grown so so so big now.. (and not to forgot fat) I will always remember the first time when I saw her.

We brought her home in a box, and there she was, crouching (afraid and small) in the corner of the box. She hid everytime we wanted to touch her. But then, after months of playing with her, sayang-ing her, she became friendly with all of us. Not to mention that my mom loves her to bits!

You see, now, we cannot eat fruits or open the fridge in peace. Coz she and beanbean will wheek until we share the fruits with them. She will place her little paw on your knees and then stand on tip toe until we give her our fruit(How could you not?)

Thus, I am quite responsible for her now pear-shaped body(she is dieting now)

That’s Beanbean, when she’s 2 months old (at least according to the vet) She’s 8 months younger than Kopi. Confident and daring, she seems to be the leader sometimes =P She warmed up to people really easily and we were all so glad that we adopted her. Kopi and her couldn’t get along well initially, but then now they follow each others' butts around when they’re outside. They even bathe together! Now, how many best friends could do that? Lol

Speaking of being best friends, Beanbean used to respond to Kopi’s name. That’s so funny. Both of my pigs can turn a circle on cue. I taught Kopi that, but I didn’t teach Beanbean. She learnt by observing Kopi. Smart girl =)

P.S to my sisters: Please don’t call her paeng paeng or what paengsy. It don’t sound nice! Well, mom is an exception, since she doesn’t know how to pronounce ‘Beanbean’

I see myself as their Mom sometimes you know? I love them so so so much =)

played with her for a while after her meal,

and I realised that I kinda need to find a way to tell her

since I need to do my tutorial for tomorrow's lesson

If she doesn't get any attention for too long

she just gives that heart-wrenching whimper

The good thing is that

she does has the ability to entertain herself with a paper ball

for, like 10 minutes or so?

The not-too-good thing is that

she always manage to catch her nap in places

which I could never find her

Like right now,

it's quite quiet

so it would be reasonable to deduce she is taking a nap

which I still don't know where

and I'll guess it will just remain a mystery for now

or she will launch into a full game of hide-and-seek

when she sees me looking for her

I realised that I forgot to mention something VERY important

as of today, 2 February 2009,

Miao Miao (unofficial name ) will be a member of our family,

along with

Brown-white guinea pig (starring Kopi)

Cream coloured guinea pig (starring BeanBean a.k.a PaengPaeng)

Black plump dwarf hamster (starring Cocoa)

White Syrian hamster, currently a self-declared disciple of Jackie Chan (starring Peanut)

and not forgetting Milky and Milo

(Psst....The mystery of MiaoMiao's whereabouts is solved

All the time when I was searching high and low for her,

she was just right under the table

less than a metre from me.

She does like to stay near to us

whenever she can :) )

About Ponyo so far

1. She starts whining like there is no tomorrow when she is left in a room
2. She likes to chase after her own tail (I thought that was a dog thing)
3. Catch that expression she has when looking at the 2 guinea pigs Kopi and Beanbean.
4. She jumped on a certain bed more than 5 times already, and if she really wants to stay, maybe she should reconsider her actions.
5. She hates to be left alone at home. When someone reaches home she bolts into the living room,
obviously glad for the company.
6. Her play pal? Rugrats
7. And her favourite game? Hide and seek (Sometimes hide, and no one seeks)
8. She occupied less than a square tile in our house (which is 20 by 20cm) when she first came,
and filled out to be more than that within 2 days.
9. When she gets into her litter box, DON'T look at her. She must have privacy!
10. The best bed she could ever have : Our arms/laps

a home for Ponyo?

We are now thinking,
seriously thinking about keeping MiaoMiao

We kind of have a name for MiaoMiao
"Ponyo"

Yep,
from that Japanese movie cartoon Ponyo
Xiu Qin thought of the name

Japalan (for the black and brown and bronze mix of colour on her fur)
is not very approved of anyway
I realise it's not too nice to make fun of her messy fur colour,
though perhaps she doesn't know how her fur really looks like

Ougwee suggested "Potty", "Pootpoot", "Poppy" and "Dobby"
(Emily : Please, NO!)
Shows a lot on how much advice she needs in future
when she has babies and want to name them

So, I shall invest in a Baby Book for her by thenWe need to ask Mum for permission first though
Bonus points for Ponyo who has been so obedient
in front of Mum so far,
such as accompanying Mum for her TV session

But her pootpoot smell is a disadvantage for her
Mum has said that she "hates the smell of cat poot the most"

I really think she doesn't know how smelly her poot is
There was once she didn't bury her poot properly
after doing her business
with her poot sitting proudly on top of the litter
If she knew she might have been more considerate
and covered everything up

As quoted,

The Weirdness of Miaomiao

There is not much news
for owners for MiaoMiao

Mostly I get the hint when
they do not reply
but I rather they tell me a straight No,
so that I can try looking for other owners

If MiaoMiao was a dog,
the task would have been so much easier

Emily borrowed some books on kittens from the library

In a bid to understand more about the slightly neurotic MiaoMiao,
I took a book to start reading, sitting on the floor

Miaomiao got jealous that
there was something else more worthy of my attention than her,
and started batting the book
(with a yellow-golden cat on the cover page)

Hence I had to give up trying to understand her (by reading the kitty book)
and try some way to entertain her

Which I then realise she is not that easily entertained

Woke up at 5.20am for school the next morning
and started looking for Miao Miao

for a moment I thought the cat was secretly thrown out by a cat-hater

funny that the cat was sleeping so soundly on my lap the previous night
and becomes so scared of me when I wake up

Apparently I kind of look rather scary and monstrous when I just wake up
And the cat can't recognise me as the one who played with her last night

I had to rush to school

whether the cat is a pure or mixed breed
when I asked around

If it was a pure breed,
obviously it wouldn't be a stray right

Found a potential owner for MiaoMiao
A FOAF (Friend of a Friend)
She said (as what I know through my friend)
that the cat is "so cuuuuuute..!!!!"
and she would like to take it,
but she has to wait for a few weeks
before taking it home,
'cos she has to vaccinate it first

"wait for few weeks?
we would have been so attached to it by then!"

Licky missed the cat too much at work
so she requested for a full detailed report
on MiaoMiao's activity at home

Here's as duly requested:

On Wednesday,
the third day of Chinese New Year

Emily called me after my make-up lesson at night
"Linda, later help me buy milk bottle can?"

For a very pitiful stray cat I heard

I was later at Holland V Cold Storage,
shopping for the smallest milk bottle I could find

When I got home,
Emily was holding the kitty
high in the air,
announcing,
"Here Comes the King!"

Apparently she did that for everyone who came home
who knows,
Miao Miao didn't like to drink from a milk bottle,
nor drink milk
(I always thought cats loved milk,
where did the "Xiao Mao Mi" name
for milk mousetaches came from?)

The first thing I noticed about MiaoMiao,
was that her eyes were very very black

her fur was brown/black/bronze all over
the mixed mixed kind

she was a little scared of me when she first saw me
but pretty fast she warmed up to me
I didn't really bear to carry her by her neck-skin,
but apparently that is how cat mums do it
and it's not painful!

We started looking for someone who would love cats
to take her in
